Artist's Description

Orchard House is a historic house museum in Concord, Massachusetts, USA. It was the longtime home of Amos Bronson Alcott and his family, including his daughter Louisa May Alcott who wrote and set her novel Little Women in her bedroom of the house on a Shelf desk that was built for her by her father.

Fortunately, there have been no major structural changes to the house since the Alcotts' time, and on-going preservation efforts adhere to the highest standards of authenticity. Since approximately 80% of the furnishings on display were owned by the Alcotts, the rooms look very much as they did when the family lived here, causing many modern-day visitors to comment that, "A visit to Orchard House is like a walk through Little Women!"

A guided tour of Orchard House introduces visitors both to objects which were important to the family and to the family members themselves.

About Brian MacLean

Brian MacLean

Brian MacLean is the father of two children. He is a local Massachusetts photographer who discovered his passion for photography 20 years ago after using his brothers camera. Brian enjoys shooting nature and landscape. Brian shoots the majority of his images with a Canon DSLR and a wide angle lens but believes that equipment is less important then the photographers vision and...
