The Cannon Mountain Aerial Tramway, or Tram, was the first aerial tramway in North America. It served Cannon Mountain Ski Area in Franconia, New Hampshire from its construction in 1938 until its retirement in 1980 when it was replaced with the current tram, the Cannon Mountain Aerial Tramway II.

Cannon Mountain Aerial Tramway II ascends the famous slopes of Cannon Mountain for 5,359 feet. Its two cabins (one red, the other yellow), each with a capacity for 80 passengers and one attendant, travel at a speed of 1,500 feet per minute, with an hourly passenger capacity of 1,540, or 770 in each direction, more than three times the capacity of the original tramway.

In the summer time the 80 passenger tramway still operates shuttling hikers and tourists to the 4,080 foot summit of Cannon Mountain for majestic views of not only Franconia Notch State Park and the White Mountains but n a clear day, you can see the mountains of four states and Canada.
